What's interesting is that Nvidia fanboys flame anyone who has the audacity to not fall to their knees and praise everything Nvidia releases, good or not. Right now Nvidia is getting beat up in the press for good reason. They missed the bus. They were late to market with a hot, overpriced mess. ANY company in that position gets beat up. Now fold up your fanboy flag and run along home.....

It's interesting that AMD has been so effective in their marketing efforts that any website that doesn't go out of their way to insult Nvidia (the company or the products) is now seen as a shill for Nvidia.

So now that you have seen all your errors.. don't you feel like a moron? I would have to guess probably not.. People that make comments like that with incorrect statements to back it are normally oblivious to common sense.. I sorta envy you!!!

Either way, 4000 to 5000 you "theoretically" get double the card... double the horse power, is that not the ultimate reason to switch it to the next gen naming scheme? I doubt the 580 will be double the power of the 480... But it may allow nvid to come out with a good dual gpu card.. Amd latest cards stumped me a bit... But i have a suspicious feeling that they did this for a very good reason!! The 580 will be what the 480 should have been on release.. So the 580 is just a fixed 480 in my book. Which puts my vote at nvid keeping it in the 400 generation. Dont get me wrong amd has made mistakes in the past and has also fixed them and made them a new gen card through naming.. This is to get rid of the bad press the cards had recieved on release.. Thats all!!!

AMD's 5970 is also a 5870 with higher overclock and few more rops and textures if you look at it that way. Incorrect statement...A 5970 has lower clocks. A 5970 is a dual gpu card... a nvid 580 or amd 5870 are not dual gpu cards.. I remember having to argue with a bunch of nvidia fanbois ( including some friends of mine ).. When the 5000 series first came out I tryed to explain to them that they were comparing a dual gpu card to a single gpu card. (hd5870 to a gtx295) For some reason when these companies decide to take out the x2, alot of people assume that it is a single gpu card..

AMD's 5970 is also a 5870 with higher overclock and few more rops and textures if you look at it that way. There has always been major design>improved version of the same design. nivida 6000>7000, amd X2000>X3000. nivida 8000>9000, amd 4000>5000. Nvidia G200>300. What you are saying is pure crap and obviously you don't have any clue about graphics or tech. Don't see where the problem is, its been like this for 20 years and you clearly are mindless troll.

@ Fuad: PS: you're right on one thing.. Those "open-minded" enough to buy a 580 should have no problem with the extra cost water cooling involves. All for a nice green badge.

"It has to be hot, but at least it will be heavy and fancy looking." @ Fuad: this has to be the stupidest comment a so called journalist has in favor of a current video card! It "HAS" to be hot? Do they really pay you THAT much you openly find the heat the current flagship nvidia cards produce a good and favourable feature? Oh and usually what comes before "but" in a sentence is supposed to be in antithesis with what comes after. You've managed to put 2 bad features in antithesis. Your phrase makes absolutely no sense, Fuad. Same thing goes for some of your articles.

That's probably how it goes. Press samples can also be clocked over the standard specs. Nvidia just wants to ruin Cayman launch as much as possible. Nvidia had nothing against Barts but somehow they convinced many sites to use superclocked FTW edition of GTX460 as an "answer". Kind of a neat trick, in a slimy way.

Paper launch, as it's been described here, means that the general consumer market won't have access to the boards. Instead, the pandering biased Nvidia kiss-asses selectively will receive the devices. This is a paper launch. The fact that a few boards are going out doesn't change the reality that WE won't have access to them in months.
