Australia Light? They should have called it Aotearoa - sounds much more exotic and matches the other codenames (n.b. native name for New Zealand). Also, I don't know if Australia Light is really accurate. New Zealand English is similar to Australian, but vowel pronunciation is swapped around for kicks - so "i" is pronounced as if it were a "u" and "i" is pronounced as if it were an "e" (ask Kiwi to say 6,6,6) etc.

Honestly though with all games being console ports the HD5000 series don't even get a work out let alone these cards. These cards would be useless except for the one time benchmarks.

This makes sense. I would expect AMD to be somewhat cautious on the new process like what they did with Evergreen on 40nm. A small(er than Cayman, GF110) die on 28nm could still offer vastly more performance with the density increase, while allowing for good yields (depending somewhat on TSMC of course). If Fermi was any indication, nvidia will probably go huge right away, and may have problems hitting their clock/power targets. If this is the case, nvidia's offerings may come much much later than AMD's.

Sorry, just did a quick search so putting this here. It was in one of the many revised AMD roadmaps the last couple of months if that helps, where I saw it. Anyways, AMD and NVIDIA will have PCIe 3.0.

AMD's latest platform map showed the 7000 series supporting PCIe 3.0 which makes sense for their GCN architecture since they did add some interesting features to the spec for GPGPU and virtualization. As for not having PCIe 3.0 in their own chipsets, it means they can't be an enthusiast contender, simple as that.
