Yeah I'm certainly going to wait till IvyB turns up on the Z77 platform. I want to see how it OC's and if it has lucids vitru universal mvp incorporated into it...I'm interested in the virtual vsync.... if IvyB doesn't meet my hopes in those respects then I'll probably go the X79/lga 2011 route with i7 3820 as that will probably give an option of an increased number of cores at a later date with IvyB-E.

The Z68 will meet the needs of most everyone. The X79 should be considered if you need more PCI-E lanes and use memory bandwidth intensive apps.

I need to upgrade from my Q6600 @3.6Ghz But I'm torn by the choice, Ivybridge I think will have more overclock ability due to lower power and smaller process but will be the last processor on the 1155 socket. The SB-E even allowing for the lower price of a 3820 will be a more expensive platfrom overall although will probably have a later upgrade option of an Ivybridge-E processor which will probably be compatible with the current 2011 socket and offer an upgrade path to a greater than 4 or 6 core processor which may become more worthwhile a couple of years down the line. As I don't renew my hardware often I like the thought of being able to upgrade but if the standard IvyB is overclocking madness then that may be the one....decisions decisions.

I have one on preorder in the Netherlands and although my sources said 18 January for the release Fudzilla tends to be pretty accurate so that is only about 6 weeks away. Looking forward to it.
