This week at Sony’s annual Cedia 2016 press briefing in Dallas, Texas, the company announced its first 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc player, the UBP-X1000ES. Unfortunately, the device will only be available through Sony’s authorized custom installation dealerships.
On Monday, Sony unveiled two new PlayStation 4 consoles set to debut on September 15th and November 10th, one designed as a slim refresh of the original console from November 2013, and the second as a mid-generation upgrade featuring 4K video output, HDR support and a redesigned GPU based on AMD Polaris, but lacking a 4K Blu-ray disc drive.
