November release is no longer certain

While people always seem to associate id Software with delays in shipping its products, some seem to forget that Epic Games has had more than its share of delays over the years and has missed multiple shipping promises, as well.

It comes as no surprise today that the almost certain release of Unreal Tournament 3 in November has been tempered by a Mark Rein post stating, “We do not know exactly when the game will be completed.”  He went on to say, “All we've said is that we're hoping for a November release, but as you know we value getting it right over getting it right now, so there's no guarantee of that.”

Midway, who is Epic’s distributor, was the issuer of the November 19th, 2007 release date in statements and information made available at E3. While the target has been November for the PC and PS3 version, the Xbox 360 version will be released later in 2008. It seems now that the release date may slip again, but Rein gave no additional hint on a new expected release time frame.
