2008 is the first year when Intel won't have any Pentium-based CPUs. Netburst is finally dead, and Intel managed to switch completely to Core technology from low end to high-end and currently offers 65 and 45nm processors, all based on Core.

Pentium D is a dual core, the last of the Netburst and it was about time to retire this core. If you managed to find some, they are probably from some distributors who had bought enough of them as Intel won’t be selling anymore.

Pentium was one of the strongest brands in the industry and we salute Intel for having the courage to move on from it. Even the OEMs said no to Pentium D, as they all know by now that Core 2-based dual core Celeron or E1000 series beats Pentium D.
