Roadmap: Wolfdale-based

Core 2 duo E8600 will be Intel's first chip to work over 3.2GHz, at least from Core 2 generation. The new chip is based on Wolfdale 45nm dual core and it will work at 3.33GHz. The chip comes with 6MB of total memory.

Something that will cheer up our own motherboard guru, Eliot, is that the chip's TDP is at 65W, which promises it to be a great overclocker. You have to admit that 65W at 3.33GHz sounds good.

This is a product that will simply give more advantage, as AMD is getting close with its Tri and Dual cores that are expected in early Q2. This is one of the “we can do it” chips and we all know how good the 65nm parts overclock and that 45nm will definitely be even better.
