Roadmap: Small as a diamond

We got a chance to get some basic details and specifications, including a picture, of Intel's soon to come Diamondville platform.

This is an ultra low-cost platform and we suggest it will cost about €50 for both CPU and motherboard.

The most important step is that it uses 45nm CPUs and that it can support single and dual core processors, making the platform with dual core more powerful and naturally more expensive.

This platform is set to replace the current Celeron 220 integrated series based on Conroe-L and the Celeron 215 based on the Yonah 65nm cores. This is targeted for the ultra low-end segment and with such a board and CPU you can make desktop for about €250.

As you can see, the motheboard has a single PCI slot and a single memory slot, but hey, it's made to sell for about €50, including the CPU, so you can't expect too much. If we had a bigger picture, we would use it, but this is the best we've got.
