Dunnington is 3x Penryn dual-core

Intel has just confirmed the existence of a six-core server part. It is basically a part with three dual-core Penryns stitched together.

It has 1.9 billion transistors and it is developed in 45nm Hi-K technology. The biggest surprise is the 16MB L3 cache memory, which definitely confirms that Intel follows some of AMD’s original ideas.

It is socket compatible with Caneland platform and the existing 45nm Xeons (we believe its 771 socket) and it should be available in 2H 2008. That is all Intel wanted to tell us today about it.
