Retail

The currently launched Phenom X3 tri-core CPU is meant exclusively for OEMs and the big system integrator market.

This product is not meant for retail as the Phenom X3 8600 is still based on the B2 revision of the core. In a few months there will be a B3 version of the Phenom X3 that will end up branded as the Phenom X3 8x50, and these new tri-cores will be good for the retail and e-tail market.

AMD is planning to get rid of all the B2s as soon as possible, as this damaged core has definitely damaged AMD’s shaken reputation. Luckily, B3 solves the issue, but this happens at the cost of big job cuts that are planned for April. Deneb and Propus are hopefully the ones that can save the day for AMD.
