As Nvidia’s Market cap

Last few days were all about Nvidia vs. Intel fight, and the bigger of the two has just announced its record revenue. Intel made astonishing $9.7 billion in Q1 2008. However, this is ten percent less than in Q4 2007, where Intel made $10.71 billion; but again, nine percent better than Q1 2007 when Intel made $8.9 billion.

The revenue is 9 percent up year over year, and the gross margin is up 4 points year over year. This is Intel’s record server microprocessor revenue and we believe that the lack of Barcelona quad-core Opteron surely contributed to that.

In addition to that, Intel’s CEO said that the company remains optimistic about growth opportunities “as we (Intel) continue to reap the benefits of our 45nm technology leadership." 45nm will show its face in Intel financial numbers in 2008 and we still have to see Intel delivering enough of 45nm dual and quad-core CPUs.

Intel’s net income is $1.4 billion, while the operating income settled at $2.1 billion.

Net income is actually 12 percent worse than Q1 2007 ($1.61 billion)and 36 percent down from stronger Q4 2007 ($2.27 billion).

Q1 2008 earnings per share are 25 cent, which is again 11 percent less than in Q1 2007 (0.27 Cent) and -34 compared to Q4 2007 (0.38 Cent).

Considering how badly AMD delivered in most of 2007 and early 2008, Intel could be much better, but obviously the big Intel has some issues with its transition to 45nm.
