Pricier models get Core i7 brand

Intel's
upcoming Lynnfield CPUs are slated for launch on September 6, and now we have some pricing info as well.

The cheapest of the lot, Core i5 750 at 2.66GHz, with 8MB of L3 cache, will launch at $196 for 1k quantities. This looks like a decent price tag for the new CPU, but Intel will also launch a couple more Lynnfields alongside it.

However, these parts will be branded as Core i7 series, for some added confusion. Unlike Core i7 9xx series parts, the 8xx series will use socket LGA1156, and will lack the tri-channel memory controller.

Two 8xx parts are planned, the 2.8GHz Core i7 860 and the 2.93 Core i7 870, and they'll be priced at $284 and $562 respectively.
