Apple fixes year old bug

Quicktime flaw overlooked
 
Apple has finally fixed a 13 month hole in the Windows version of QuickTime.

The update fixes a flaw in QuickTime for Windows XP and Vista first reported in September 2006 by UK researcher Petko Petkov. In frustration, Petkov last month posted proof-of-concept code for the vulnerability after claiming Apple had not acknowledged his messages.

Mozilla patched Firefox six days later saying it thought that the bug had been fixed under one of Apple's earlier patches. Apple said that the bug was different and acknowleged it and issued a patch.
