Another red sports brand goes into IT

SanDisk announced that it's gone into partnership with motorcycle maker Ducati to make Ducati branded products, somewhat similar to the Acer/Ferrari relationship, at least it terms of colour. In return for the Ducti branded products, SanDisk will sponsor the Ducati Moto GP team.

First up is the new SanDisk Extreme Ducati Edition USB Flash Drive which is modeled on a Moto GP Ducati. The red tail light will light up when data is written or read from the drive and the gold plated USB connector is retracable. It will come in 4GB capacities and SanDisk claims write speeds of 20MB/s, the fastest for any SanDisk consumer USB drive.

The drive has a SRP of US$124.99 which seems quite expensive and it will be available in the US and Europe in August with the rest of the world following in September.

SanDisk also launched two new memory cards in the Ducati Extreme series, a CF card and an SD Plus card, both available in 4GB with the CF card also available in 8GB. The SD Plus card has a built in USB port so you don't need a card reader to use it.

The CF card has a write speed of 45MB/s and the SD Plus card manages 20MB/s. The 4GB SD Plus card is expected to retail for $129.99, with the 4GB CF card coming in at $164.99 and the 8GB version costing a whopping $314.99. All memory cards should be available in the US and Europe in August.
