Virtual hard disk

Microsoft is offering a 30-day free trial version of Vista for everyone who wants to try this OS in its virtual machine. This is a nice way for administrators to try out the new OS and later upgrade their complete network to the brand new Vista OS.

It is quite easy to try: you can run a virtual machine on your Windows 2003 server or XP and install Vista as a separate virtual machine.

AMD still claims a dominance in virtualization, but the latest VMware still doesn’t supports Barcelona generation CPUs and Xeons are working in software virtualization mode.

Vista VHD is free, if you have the courage to try it, you can get it here.
