Some interesting results

Chinese website PCOnline has once again managed to get a scoop, and this time they're pitting AMD's upcoming RS780 chipset against Nvidia's upcoming GeForce 8200, to see who has the best IGP.

One very interesting thing is the fact that AMD has gone back to the very early days of integrated motherboard graphics by having added 64MB of onboard graphics memory. It's a single DDR2 chip and it only has a 32-bit memory interface with the IGP, but it still seems to make a huge difference in performance as you'll see from the benchmark figures.

In fact, that little bit of extra memory really makes or breaks the RS780, as without it, it's slower than the GeForce 8200 in many of the tests, but vastly faster in just about every test with it enabled. This means that you have to be very careful when you pick your RS780 board if you're planning on getting one.

You can find some pictures of the boards which are from some local Chinese manufacturers, as well as a wide range of benchmark graphics, all of which are quite easy to read, here
