Sapphire has announced that its motherboards fully support 125W Phenom CPUs, models 9750 and 9850. This goes for Sapphire's high-end and mid-range motherboards based on 790FX, 770 and 780G chipsets.

This announcement was released due to the fact that some motherboards based on DAAMIT's 780G chipset can only support earlier 95W Phenoms, due to the design of the power regulation. The motherboards included are Sapphire's high-end PC-AM2RD790 PURE CrossfireX 790FX, mainstream PC-AM2RX780 PURE CrossfireX 770 and microATX hybrid Crossfire motherboard, PI-AM2RS780G Hybrid Crossfire 780G.

Sapphire does note that PI-AM2RS780G and PC-AM2RD790 do need a BIOS update in order to recognize the CPU ID correctly. If you are a proud owner of one of these motherboards or a future buyer, the new BIOS can be found on Sapphire's web site.
