Launch unknown

Nvidia's first Hybrid SLI boards are getting ready and partners are slowly distributing samples. Last time we talked to Nvidia about it we've learned that the new driver with improved performance will be scheduled for sometime in April.

Since we are in the last days of April, the time for Nforce 780a has come. The main difference between the 780a and the 750a chipsets is that the 780a supports 3-way SLI while the 750a only supports dual SLI.

Both boards should launch simultaneously and most of Nvidia's partners will support 140W TDP CPUs. We've learned that if you overclock the Phenom 9850 Black edition you need way more than that, and let’s hope that these new boards will have an eight PWM design, as this might be the only way to ensure that the board won't blow when the CPU is overclocked to over 3GHz.

The boards should show their faces early next week, just in time for the last days of April.
