Initially for Germany

T-Mobile Germany has announced three new Windows Mobile 6.1 devices, namely the MDA Compact IV, the MDA Vario IV and a 16GB version of the T-Mobile Ameo. All of them are made by HTC and the first two look very appealing, not only in terms of features, but also when it comes to the design.

The MDA Compact IV and the MDA Vario IV looks quite similar at first glance, and the major difference between the two is that the MDA Vario IV features a slide-out keyboard. Both the MDA Compact IV and the MDA Vario IV feature the same UI tweaks from HTC as the HTC Diamond, but in this case with a bit of a T-Mobile tweak to it.

Feature-wise, both devices have a 480x640 display, 7.2Mbit HSDPA and 1.4Mbit HSUPA for high-speed downloads and uploads, a GPS, a 3.2Megapixel camera as well as a front-mounted camera for video calls, 802.11b/g WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 and a 528MHz Qualcomm processors. The MDA Compact IV features 128MB of RAM, 256MB of ROM and 4GB of built-in flash storage memory, while the MDA Vario IV has 256MB of RAM and 512MB of ROM and a microSD card slot for additional memory.

Only the T-Mobile Ameo 16 is available from T-Mobile Germany as of right now, and it appears to carry a €30-60 price premium over the old version depending on tariff. We don't know when the MDA Compact IV and the MDA Vario IV are expected to become available.
