Just add dot com

The famous author Neil Gaiman has come forth and offered a convenient solution to those who just can’t live without profanity on their (Google’s?) Nexus One. In case you haven’t heard, the company mobile offering features voice transcription with a profanity filter that can’t be turned off. But, where there’s a will – there’s a way.

Apparently, the solution is as simple as uttering “dot com” after carefully inserting dirty words that are to your liking – and voila, your curse words will be there just like they should be. We of course have our own favorites that we’d very much like to list, but alas, our engine is nowhere nearly as fun as Google’s linguistically shackled device.

The company claims the filter is "less about sanitizing users' speech and more about making sure curse words don't accidentally appear in transcriptions erroneously." Now where’s the fun in that?

More here.
