Little Big Planet yet another virtual world

Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios revealed a glimpse of the LittleBigPlanet at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco, California. The project was developed by Media Molecule and they refer to it as the first creative gaming experience for PLAYSTATION 3.

LittleBigPlanet is PS3 online community where players will get their characters that have different abilities. Spending time with your character lets you learn all the powers that your character has and the ways you can use those. The game concept is made in that way that makes you want to be creative. Your character can interact, move, or change anything in this world.

As you go along there will be areas to explore, abilities to gain or puzzles to solve and all of that will help you to create something in that world that you will be proud of sharing it with other players, throughout the Playstation Network. People from Sony claim that there are no complicated level editors but rather very simple way of interacting with everything. Any user will be able to learn things simply by playing.

“We were confident that PS3 would be the platform to lead the way in creative gaming, and LittleBigPlanet brings this concept to life spectacularly, by giving players the power to shape and share an entire virtual world via PLAYSTATION Network, we've created the space for PS3 owners to realize their creativity and craft their own unique gameplay experience.” said Phil Harrison, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios.

A demo of LittleBigPlanet for PS3 is announced for the PS Network this fall. The full version will follow in early 2008. Here is couple of screenies until then.
