Sony Computer Entertainment America will release a special limited edition PlayStation 2 in November.

The new-old console will ship in Ceramic White and it comes bundled with 2 USB microphones, SingStar Pop karaoke and a white Dual Shock controller. This resurrected PS2 will come just in time for the holiday shopping season and will be priced at a modest $150.

At the moment it looks like this limited edition will only hit the North American market. This strikes us as a bit odd, since the expensive and HD oriented PS3 doesn't really stand a fighting chance in developing countries.

In such markets HD TVs won't be a household item for years to come, and the good old PS2 still packs a punch and retains a huge following. With 117 million units sold so far, the PS2 will still stick around for some time. However, it must be said that much of its popularity in some parts of the world also stems from the abundant supply of pirated games and mod chips.
