Summer of Arcade on Xbox Live

The Summer of Arcade on Xbox Live will lead off with the second edition of the smash hit, Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2. Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 will features six game play modes and lots of new and exciting enemies to destroy. The sequel will offer new scoring and achievements for players to earn and will go for 800 Microsoft Points.

In the weeks that follow, Microsoft will also be releasing additional titles including Braid, Castle Crashers, and Bionic Commando Rearmed from Capcom. Galaga Legions from the team that did the updated Pac-Man Championship Edition will be coming from Namco Bandai.

As for the release dates, August 6th will see the release of Braid, to be followed by the August 13th release of Bionic Commando Rearmed. Then, Microsoft will slide into August 20th with the release of Galaga Legions, with Castle Crashers coming on August 27th.

The focus on Xbox Live Arcade comes as no surprise to those who have been following the success of XBLA since its launch. Geometry Wars was really the title that put XBLA on the map and casual gaming has been a huge success for the Xbox 360 platform.

Microsoft will continue to extend the success of XBLA with the Summer of Arcade promotion, which will include additional giveaways that will include a variety of prizes that the owner can be entered in to receive just for downloading and sampling one of the demos for the new titles that are released.
