Ambitious launch plans

After being asked how the company plans to generate non-WoW revenue in the future, Blizard’s COO Paul Sams announced the company's plans to release a “front-line” title every year. An ambitious plan to say the least, but Blizzard is a tough cat and they might even pull it off.

We must admit that such claims are also a bit frightening, as we’re used to Blizzard showing up from time to time and dazzling us with their developer prowess, and such a deadline-dependent launch-plan might result in diluted games, something we’ve not grown to expect from the company.

On another note, the question on what they’ll do for the year 2009 and whether we’ll see them milk WoW, StarCraft II or Diablo III, was left unanswered.

He did say though that StarCraft Beta will be here in the months to come saying how they’ll test it on a basic version of their new Battle.net architecture, and will be adding features to “deliver a second-generation Battle.net experience”.
