Vietnam expansion to arrive yet this year

A surprise bit of news from the DICE camp today by way of the Electronic Arts press conference yesterday. Battlefield Bad Company 2 will be getting an expansion pack. The expansion pack to arrive late this year to be called Battlefield Bad Company 2 Vietnam.

The expansion pack will be a new take on the Battlefield franchise with many players hopeful that the original Battlefield Vietnam title for the PC will influence the development of this expansion pack. No word yet if any of the original Battlefield Vietnam maps will be converted to the Frostbite engine for this expansion pack release.

From what we have been able to learn, the expansion pack will feature four new maps with both Conquest and Rush game play modes. Players will be able to play either the U.S. Marines or the North Vietnamese Army (NVA). Both sides will have unique era weapons and vehicles. The Expansion Pack will offer new achievements and trophies to earn.

While neither EA or DICE was any more specific about the release date or the pricing, we do know that the Expansion Pack will be release for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC platforms when it finally does arrive. No price was announced, but our sources suggest that it will most likely be a download content only release and it will go for $15 when it arrives in the Winter 2010.
