AverMedia loves DVB

Computex 07: DVB-S with CA module


AverMedia had a wide range of DVB cards at its booth at Computex this year, digital is the way forward and AverMedia have fully embraced this new TV standard.

We spotted two cards that peaked our interest and the first one is a DVB-S card with an expansion module that has a CI / CA (Common Interface / Common Access) module for smart cards. This means that you can watch paid for content with this card, something that we've been waiting for, for quite some time.

The card also supports DVB-T, analog TV and FM radio and has composite and S-Video inputs.

The next card is another dual tuner model, but this one only does DVB-T and analog TV as well as FM radio, but the cool feature of this card is the fact that it has component video input (YPbPr) which means that you can input much higher signal quality than with standard composite or S-Video.

It might even be able to accept an HD video signal, although AverMedia didn't state either which way.

Both cards are of course Vista certified.

Also on display was a range of Express Card TV tuner solutions in both 34 and 54 width cards.
