We don't have any names but we learned that some partners plan to bring Ion based netbooks to the market. The advantage over Intel is full HD 1080p support as the fact it can offer some basic gaming.

Intel wants to discredit Nvidia's gaming performance claiming its not enough for good mainstream gaming, but with Ion you will at least have a chance to play some games, while with Intel's chipsets you have to forget 3D games and HD 1080p video.

Sources have confirmed that among some Ion designs, some partners will launch netbooks based on it, and back at Cebit we heard that some of the people to keep in mind are Nvidia's partners. Nvidia partners believe that most of them should be fine as they are too small to upset Intel, but if you have motherboard business as well, Intel can indeed make your life harder.

The bottom line is that some netbooks based on Ion and Atom CPU will show their face by Q3 if not even Q2 2009.
