Toshiba has launched a new 10-inch netbook, and if you're probably
getting sick of 10-inch netbooks which have nothing new to offer and
look like they all came from the same litter, at least you'll like its
looks.
The Dynabook UX is a rather slim machine, measuring 25.4-30.8mm at the
thickest point, but we've seen thinner netbooks so it's no big deal.
However, the designers toyed around with it quite a bit, and it's strongly
reminiscent of recent Vaios and MacBooks. We like the keyboard, and the
touchpad and chassis look classy, and they better be, as the Dynabook
isn't what we'd call cheap.
Akibahara is reporting that it will sell
for about 20 percent more than a similarly spec'd Aspire One, which
means it should cost as much as an Eee PC S101, if not even more,
€450-ish. We still don't know the exact EU prices, nor availability dates.
No surprises when it comes to hardware, although it's nice to see
Toshiba went for the 1.66GHz Atom N280 on a 667MHz bus instead of the
N270. Still, it's stuck with the 945GSE chipset. The screen resolution
is 1,024x600, and you get 160GB of storage and 1GB of RAM. It measures
263×192.3×25.4~30.8mm and weighs 1.18 to 1.33kg, depending on the
battery.
It will ship in two pretty stylish colour options and you can find the product page
here.
