In addition to the slim and stylish Eee PC 1008 Seashell, Asus is also planning the 1005, apparently with a removable battery.
The 1008 features a built in 4-cell Li-Polymer battery, which has drawn
some criticism from reviewers. However, according to some reports, the
1005 features a user-removable 6-cell Li-Polymer battery, although we haven't managed to confirm this just yet.
Due to the bigger power pack, the 1005 weighs 1.4kg, 300g more than the
1008HA, but the rest of the spec stays the same: Atom N280, 1GB, 160GB
and 10-inch 1,024x600. Best of all, the Eee PC 1005HA-M is listed at as
low as €349, although most retailers are listing it at just under €400.
This means it should cost you just as much as the 1008HA, and it could
even end up a bit cheaper.
There's a catch, however. Retailers claim they will have it in stock in
two months, so you'll have to wait quite a bit to get your hands on one.
