The slower one was already benched

Our
sources have told us that there are two versions of ION 2 chipset on the way. Something we also managed to confirm is that the ION 2 brand won't show up at Cebit, as Nvidia simply plans to continue calling this product ION.

We don't know the real brand or how Nvidia plans to differentiate the new products, but the slower version will have less shaders than the current ION, while the faster one should have a lot more shaders and should end up at least slightly faster than the current ION.

The one shown in an Acer netbook at the Mobile World Congress was based on the slower of these two discrete chips and we do know that the new ION won't be much faster than the current version, simply as it won't have 40 shaders as originally planned. It should still be slightly faster.

Make sure you read this piece as its now clear that the one benchmarked here is the slower of the two ION chips.
