Notebooks based on Intel's Sandy Bridge 32nm 2011 CPU and the rest of the parts that make up the Huron River platform should have improved battery life.

Intel is now promising that your 2011 notebook might be able to play two Blu-ray discs per charge. At least to us this sounds like an improvement in battery life but we are well aware that some top battery saving Calpella notebooks can probably do the same.

Intel’s rapid storage technology will somehow be able to save some battery life on your notebook and we hope that we can find out more about it before it gets revealed at Intel's IDF this fall, where it is expected that company will get technical about next generation mobile stuff.

We believe that Intel means that an average Huron River notebook should be able to play two Blu-rays. In an era when most of the people simply buy movies on Apple's store and the like, this definitely doesn’t sounds as important as it used to be, but any news on battery life improvement is always welcome.
