Goes back to its netbook roots

Asus has given a last breath of life to the 8.9-inch netbook market by announcing its Eee PC 900AX. Although it has a new 900AX name, it is still an old netbook that gives Asus a chance to empty its inventory of 8.9-inch screens and Atom N270 processors.

Bear in mind that Intel's N270 is the CPU that was a monolith for the netbook market and Asus even decided to keep the "good old" 802.11bg WiFi instead of the new 802.11n. The netbook also runs on Windows XP, instead of Windows 7 Starter while the rest of the specs include 1GB of memory, 160GB hard drive, two USB 2.0 ports, D-Sub output, 8.9-inch 1020x600 screen and a 4-cell battery.

Yes, it's not a typo, according to Asus, a 4-cell is apparently enough for around 4hr of usage. Hopefully, Asus will price this one according to its modest specifications and features, or lack thereof.
