Proper notebook for the price of a netbook

Although Lenovo might not be the most exciting notebook maker on the market, it sometimes finds a way of surprising us. Selling a 15.4-incher for just under €260 is nothing short of surprising, as it's hard to find a decent netbook for that sort of money.

The Lenovo IBM 3000 G530 is a no thrills 15.4-inch notebook based on Intel's 2.2GHz Celeron 900. Agreed it is a cheap single-core, but at 2.2GHz it has enough muscle to cope with most everyday tasks. However, the dirt cheap G530 features just 1GB of memory and this could be an issue for anyone who plans to install Windows on it, and since it ships with FreeDOS it's up to consumers to install Windows or Linux. It has 160GB of storage, WLAN, DVD burner, 2 USB and a low-res 1280x800 screen.

Despite the specs which leave much to be desired, it's still mindbogglingly cheap and there is no denying this. Although we wouldn't buy one in a hundred years, it looks like a great choice for schools and undemanding users on a budget.
