Cebit 2010: GTX 285M, i7 720QM Dynaudio sound

MSI
has a surprise for those looking into treating themselves to a gaming laptop, and the company has thought of both sides of the coin – those with deep pockets and those who don’t need all the bells and whistles but still like to do some gaming on the laptop. For now we'll cover the faster one of the two - the GT660.

The GT660 is one sweet piece of gaming hardware as its ticker is Intel’s Core i7 720QM and its graphics is Nvidia’s GTX 285M with 1GB of GDDR3. Cpre i7 720QM is a quad core CPU with the base frequency of 1.6GHz and with the help of turbo, this Lynnfield based CPU can overclock all the way to 2.8GHz. It has 6MB of cache and supports eight hyperthreaded cores.  The sad part is that GTX 285M is quite obsolite with DirectX 10 based core, while we all know that at least ATI has mobile DirectX 11 parts.

It comes with USB 3.0 as well, but the highlight would probably be Dynaudio’s sound implementation. The rest of the specs are on the bottom picture, so we won’t bother listing them.

We’ve been told that the process of making this beast actually started from perfectly aligning and positioning the speakers, in order to make the audio as good and immersive as it gets. Naturally, laptops aren’t quite known for their audio reproduction, but we must admit the GT660 does an admirable job.

The GT660 will be priced at around €2,000 when it hits the market.
