Cebit 2010:
One sweet looking Pine Trail

MSI’s
was one of the booths that was literally bursting at the seams with both new and already announced products, but this little big device would’ve definitely caught your eye.

The Wind U160 has a 10’’ glare widescreen as and the device runs on Atom N450 and Intel’s 3150 integrated graphics. It disappoints that this netbook doesn't have a matt screen. It features 2GB of DDR2 at 667MHz and will come with an optional Super-Multi DVD optical drive. The U160 packs WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, 2-in-1 card reader (SD/MMC), mic/headphone ports and comes with 1.3mp webcam and Windows 7 starter. It has an excellent and comfortable chiclet keyboard and the fact that this device is this year's iF winner says enough.

The U160 features a 6-cell Li-Ion battery rated at 5800mAh and MSI claims battery life stands at impressive 15 hours, which is additionally helped by MSI’s Eco power-saving tech allowing the user to chose between 5 different power profiles. Naturally, battery life figures are calculated in best possible scenarios so you should expect lower battery life as soon as you turn on WiFi or do more demanding tasks, but it’s still impressive enough and should still be a nice mark for competitors to aim for.

The device measures 25.4mm at its thickest point and weighs 1.2kg. It comes in “Fancy Gold” and “Jet Black” and we found it priced at €349 (without optical drive), although they’re not available as of yet. Unfortunately for Europe, the same device is priced at $379 in the US, which seriously makes us think that European forefathers stepped on too many toes in the ancient times. And they would've gotten away with it if there wasn't for those pesky hardware makers.
