8600GTS first scores

Preview: Geforce 8600 GTS at stock speed


We had a chance to test the highly anticipated Geforce 8600 GTS card. The card we tested is clocked at the default 675 MHz core and 2000 MHz memory. We won't go in many details but we can say that in 3Dmark 03 it is 3000 faster than the reference clocked 7600 GT, in 3Dmark 05 it scores 11.400 and runs 5.000 points faster.

In 3Dmark06 is scores 5500 points which is about 2000 faster than the previous generation known as 7600 GT. 


In games it runs faster than the reference clocked 7600 GT but it is not that faster versus 80 nanometre 7600 GT card we have in our hands. Geforce 8600 GTS really loses its grip in 4X FSAA and 8X Aniso.
