Wind with DDR3 memory

We already wrote about MSI's Wind U135DX big brother, the Wind U160DX back during the MSI pre-Computex event, and a quick glance at MSI site showed that MSI apparently sneaked the U135DX without an official announcement. The 10-inch Wind U135DX is based on Intel's NM10 chipset and features Intel's Atom N455 CPU paired up with DDR3 memory and GMA 3150 integrated graphics.

In case you visit MSI's official website don't get confused by an obvious copy/paste error in the spec sheet, as this one indeed comes with 1GB of DDR3 memory. The new 10.1-incher features 1.66GHz Atom N455 CPU, up to 2GB of DDR3 memory, and Intel's GMA 3150 integrated graphics. We are pretty much looking at an old Wind U135 with updated hardware.

The one thing that caught our eye back at that pre-Computex event is that MSI included both its Eco Engine technology and the Turbo Drive Engine (TDE) tech which means that the U135DX will either pull the most out of its 3 or 6-cell battery or it will overclock the puny N455 once it needs additional muscle. Of course, we saw the U160DX pulling 1.77GHz back in May, but even 100MHz can sometimes help.

The dimensions of the U135DX are 260x180x19-31.5mm and it weighs 1.2kg. It has a 10.1-inch 1024x600 LED screen. The rest of the specs include 160GB or larger HDD, 0.3M webcam, 802.11bgn WiFi, 10/100 LAN, optional Bluetooth, MSI chiclet keyboard and wider touchpad, and a bunch of "Color Film Print" tech colors like black, white, silver, blue, red or pink.

Due to the fact that MSI decided to show its U135DX we guess that the U160DX is around the corner as well so we'll keep an eye on the sucessor of the IF Award winning U160.
