Intel Atom N455 and DDR3 memory

We already wrote about its U130DX sibling, but MSI has now officially announced the Wind U160DX as well. This one is basically an U160 with an updated hardware, like Intel's Atom N455 CPU and DDR3 memory.

We had a chance to take a closer look at it on a pre-Computex event and its Turbo Drive Engine feature caught our attention as it was running at 1.77GHz instead of the rated 1.66GHz. The rest of the specs include 1GB of DDR3 memory (with support for up to 2GB), 10.1-inch 1024x600 LED screen, 160GB HDD and Intel's GMA 3150 graphics.

It also packs 802.11bgn WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, 1.3M Webcam, and 2-in-1 card reader. It should also feature 3.5G support for mobile networks but it might depend on the region where it is sold. This 10.1-incher measures 265x165x19.8-25.4mm and it weighs in around 1kg with a 3-cell battery. It will also be available with a 6-cell battery.

Availability and pricing haven't been announced but as far as we know, the U160DX should end up at around €370 depending on the region and the SKU, so it will be only a bit more expensive than the U160.
