Along with numerous cheeky comments about world leaders ranging from Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, the cables also show that the US diplomats are convinced China is conducting a cyber sabotage campaign against US interests.
Cables originating with the US Embassy in Beijing pin the blame for a series of attacks on Chinese authorities. US diplomats appear convinced that attacks against Google and other targets are part of a much wider coordinated campaign of computer sabotage. Chinese operatives also targeted email accounts belonging to western officials and exiled Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama.
Although some lawmakers and tech experts have been accusing China of such mischief for a couple of years, the US has never publicly accused China of cyber warfare.
