Foxconn readies iPad 2 for February

by on07 December 2010

Launch expected in April
Digitimes is reporting that Foxconn is gearing up to start iPad 2 production in late February. Within 100 days of starting production, shipments are expected to reach between 400,000 and 600,000 units.

It has been widely rumoured that Apple will introduced the revamped tablet sometime in April and that it will try to lower iPad inventories through February and March. This should not be much of a problem, as Apple will start shipping the iPad in several new markets by the end of the year.

The iPad 2 is supposed to offer several major improvements over the first gen version, ranging from a mini-USB port, camera and a dual-core processor. However, it’s still too early to say whether the rumours are anything more than a wish list compiled by fanboys and tame editors.

One thing is sure though. This time it will have multitasking from the get-go.
