Will cost $15 when it arrives in February
While everyone knows that map packs are coming for Call of Duty: Black Ops, details have been pretty limited on when they will arrive until now. Word is that the first map pack for Black Ops will be called First Strike and is currently slated for a February 1st release.

Developer Treyarch confirmed that this was the plan recently to Xbox Live’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb in a recent interview. The map pack will be available first for the Xbox 360 platform for $15 (1,200 Microsoft Points) when it arrives. It is assumed that once the Xbox 360 exclusive release period is over that it will then become available for the PlayStation 3 and PC, as well.

The First Strike map pack will add four multiplayer maps, said to be called Berlin Wall, Discovery, Kowloon and Stadium. In addition, the map pack will also contain a new zombie mode map called Ascension as part of the package.

Activision is putting more of an emphasis on map packs and downloadable content recently after the exceptional success of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package, which sold over 2.5 million downloads on the Xbox 360 platform alone on the first day of release; it then added another 1 million in sales on the PlayStation 3 platform when it was released there, as well. Sales for the map packs for Call of Duty have been a very big boost to the franchise and Activision, and this has led to the company having more focus on driving DLC releases for titles.
