First Verizon LTE handset to be announced
Sources are confirming to us that we can expect Verizon to show off (or at least officially announce) their first 4G LTE handset soon, and maybe as soon as CES in Las Vegas. The new smartphone that is designed and built by HTC is said to be called the Thunderbolt 4G, which was previously referred to as the Incredible HD.

The Thunderbolt apparently will offer both CDMA and LTE support, as well as 16GB of flash storage with a 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor, which is said to be running version 2.3 of the Android OS. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi b/g/n and GPS will also be included. It will also include both 5 megapixel front and 8 megapixel rear facing camera with dual-LED flash support. The built-in MicroSD card slot will support cards up to 128GB. It will use a hefty 1800mAh battery, so it isn’t exactly going to be feather light.

While our sources tell us that they are not yet 100% sure on the timing of the announcement, they suspect that it will be at CES, as Verizon may want to announce this ahead of the expected iPhone announcement that is said to be coming. One thing we can tell you about the Thunderbolt for certain is that we don’t expect it to be cheap; and we doubt that you will actually be able to buy it till late February or early March, if our sources are correct.
