Acer Fusion 15.6 inch notebooks up for preorder

Written by Fuad Abazovic

Zacate starts in February at €402 Euro and up

According to a few etailers, Acer Fusion based notebooks might start shipping in February. Amazon is saying that Acer Aspire 5253-E354G50Mnkk, a 15,6-inch notebook based on AMD's 1,6GHz Zacate E-350 could start shipping in two to four weeks. It packs 4GB of RAM, a 500GB HDD, AMD HD 6310 graphics, DVD, Win 7 HPOther stores are giving a February 2011 as the shipping time.

The machine is priced at €500 which is not a bad price considering the 4GB of memory, 15.6 inch screen, 500MB hard drive, Windows 7 and a DVD.

The cheaper version called Acer Aspire 5253-E352G32Mnkk should be shipping for around €400 and it has the same 15.6-inch WXGA glare LED TFT 1366x768 screen, AMD E-350 2x 1.60GHz CPU, 3X USB 2.0 as well as LAN and 802.11bgn Wlan 2 in one card reader but it comes with 2GB of RAM and a smaller 320GB hard drive.

The Acer Aspire 5253-E352G32Mnkk might not come with DVD but the spec claims 2.5KG weight, which is not bad for a 15.6-inch notebook.

It looks like these notebooks will come in black, brown and red and you can find them listed here.

I would immediately buy it! If it wouldn't have this glare display. Plus 1366 x 768 is simply not enough for a 15" display.

I am actually trying to find people that don't want this displays either. Maybe we can bring Acer, Asus, Dell, Sony, MSI and all the others back to their senses:

Just ordered the HP dm1z for my wife.

$425 USD
11.6" screen
E-350 Fusion
320 GB 7200 rpm HDD

Should be getting it in the next couple weeks and I'm also looking for a notebook for my parents; these models from Acer might fit the bill.
