Blizzard to do Diablo III for consoles

Written by David Stellmack

No more mystery about if it is happening
It seems that the waiting and wondering if Blizzard will finally enter the console market is coming to an end. Blizzard is confirmed to be hiring a senior producer specifically for the console version of Diablo III and they are moving forward on this project.

Blizzard is looking for an experienced senior producer who has experience with shipping at least one AAA console title in this role. As Mike Morhaime, CEO of Blizzard, confirmed at the DICE summit, the company had been looking at the possibility of bringing Diablo III to the console market space.

No one knows when a console version of Diablo III might arrive or if it will arrive at the same time as the PC version. It is very likely, however, that it will not arrive this year and it is more likely for a 2012 release, based on the latest information from Activision. Still, whispers that we hear suggest that more details surrounding the specifics will be announced during E3 in June, including confirmation of what consoles the title will be arriving for; but it is a safe bet that it will be for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
