Announcement coming on 24th

Written by David Stellmack

Microsoft to reveal something at GDC
Microsoft’s Major Nelson has fanned the flames of the Xbox 360 community saying that they are having an invite-only press event where they are going to announce something big. Beyond saying that, “Just telling you guys, you’re going to be really happy when you hear all the news, that’s all I can say.”

Our sources seem to think that the announcement will be the first official news of the new High Definition remake of Halo: Combat Evolved for the Xbox 360. This does seem a likely candidate, as rumors suggest that this has been in development since the summer of 2010; and it will apparently introduce online play to Halo: Combat Evolved, which is something the first one never had.

It is hard to say if this is what Microsoft has planned, but it would be a big announcement that is sure to please a lot of fans of the Halo franchise.

Pff, got excited for a second then. Expected it to be Windows 8 or the next generation of consoles, not just something Halo-related. Ah well.

A new version of Windows wouldn't be announced at GDC. A new DirectX, maybe.

If they release a new console now, what becomes of Kinect? I guess they'll make it work for that too. Thing is, the 360 is really hitting it's stride now, so would this really be the best time? *braces for attacks*

New console sounds pretty unrealistic, its probably gonna end up as some irrelevant bs, just like apples special day.

Apple's probably going to introduce a total redesign of their MacBook Pro line and a new iPad. That's hardly irrelevant, especially if the rumors about them using Light Peak, AMD graphics, and liquid metal are true. *braces for more attacks*

Meanwhile, Microsoft is probably just going to announce Kinect for PC.

I was talking about http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/apple-teases-exciting-itunes-announcement/story?id=12153412

Though this one sounds pretty lame too besides light peak.

Kinect for pc...yeh, that would make sense.
