Rumour mill turns
The dark satanic rumour mill has manufactured a hell on earth yarn which claims that HP is about to flog its PC business. According to a Chinese-language Commercial Times the maker of expensive printer ink has been trying to palm off its PC business to Samsung Electronics.

Digitimes, which is normally the source of such strange rumours, got on the phone to some of its sources in the upstream component industry. The rumours have been going around Taiwan's IT market since the fourth quarter of 2010.

Apparently the deal was called off due to an unknown reason, and there has not been any follow up since then. What is believed happened was HP wanted to flog its PC arm but its partners some how stopped it.

Even Digitimes thinks that the possibility of HP selling its PC department is rather low. Not only did the PC give HP huge amounts of cash, the company is currently still the largest vendor in the global notebook market, as well as both the key markets Europe and the US.

Recently the HP CEO also recently saying the company will adopt webOS into PC products to challenge Apple. You cant do that if you have flogged your  PC business, Digitimes pointed out sagely.
