HP sells 15-incher for €209

by on02 May 2011

Dirt cheap deal of the day
HP has slashed the price of its 15-inch Compaq Presario CQ56, making it the cheapest proper laptop on the European market.

Of course, its design and spec sheet won’t turn heads, but this is beside the point. Just €209 will buy you an AMD V140 processor at 2.3GHz, HD 4250 IGP, 2GB of memory, 250GB of storage and a DVD burner. However, being a dirt cheap entry level model, it does not feature HDMI or a card reader, but most people can do without them anyway. The CQ56 ships with Linux, a 6-cell power pack and it weighs 2.5kg.

Although the spec leaves much to be desired, it delivers truly stunning value for money. Bear in mind that Atom netbooks with 1GB of memory and a 160GB hard drive sell for €200, so getting a 15-incher at the same price is a rather good deal.

You can get one at Amazon.de, or check out the listings here.
