L.A. Noire causing some PS3s to overheat

Written by David Stellmack

Three beeps and then it shuts down
Rockstar is telling players of its PlayStation 3 release of L.A. Noire that the overheating issues some players are seeing is apparently caused by Sony’s latest 3.61 update. A number of users are reporting that the PS3 is freezing and overheating while playing L.A. Noire.

Rockstar claims that this is not an isolated incident and that other titles have been experiencing the same issue, but we have been unable to verify this claim. What we can tell you is that the “three beeps and the console shuts off” seems to happen only with the older 60GB and 80GB fat models.

Right now there is little that can be done, because Sony is fighting fires on other fronts, but it is an issue that is going to have to be dealt with. As of now there is no official word on what Rockstar is going to do or how they are going to handle the problem. In addition to the problems with the PS3 version, we are also hearing a number of unconfirmed reports that the Xbox 360 version might be suffering from some freezing issues, as well, but that is still up in the air at the moment.

I herd that the 360 is also having problems with this game. Mabe this will force the game makers to make it for PC.
