PopCap likely to do an IPO on NASDAQ

Written by David Stellmack

Will use the additional funding to grow
We have been hearing whispers for some time that developer PopCap would undertake the process of floating an initial public offering (IPO) in the near future. It looks like the future is coming sooner than we expected, with word that the IPO will be launched in November.

While there have been discussions with both the New York and NASDAQ exchanges, our sources say that in the end PopCap will be on the NASDAQ exchange. The additional funding would be used to grow the company and do some things that they could not do without it.

Originally, it was thought that PopCap might say independent, but now that seems unlikely. PopCap has been one of the leaders in the casual gaming space with a variety of titles on just about every platform that you can think of. Rumors of a possible IPO have been circulating since December of last year.
