Galaxy S II sells 3 million

Written by Nedim Hadzic

In 55 days
Samsung announced that it sold 3 million units of its Galaxy S II smartphone in only 55 days.

The company crunched some numbers and came up with the fact that one Galaxy S II was sold every 1.5 seconds. As you'd imagine, that's much better than its predecessor Galaxy S, which managed to hit 3 million sales in 85 days.

Interestingly enough, Samsung was cautious in setting expectations for this device. The company expects to sell 10 million units in 2011, which is about the same the original Galaxy S managed thus far.

I would have gotten one myself, if it wasn't for that stupid Mali GPU they used. Most 3D apps out there are optimized for PowerVR and/or Tegra.

Thankfully, the Z will be coming out soon, but no Amoled damn it!

I have a Tegra 2 phone (Optimus x2) and let me tell you, it's a lot more sluggish running these 'optimized' apps than my GF's S2.

I've played "optimized for Tegra2" games on an ASUS pad and they run far, far slower than the same game on an iPhone 4 (which is clocked much lower than a Tegra!)

NVidia fail, as usual.

Idd, though the battery time is a joke, hope they do something about it in S3, because the rest is pretty close to perfect.
